RYAN IS HOME!!!

FINALLY!!!  We brought Ryan home on Thursday night.  We had a great reception at the airport with friends and family.  Ryan is getting settled and we are trying to adjust to having 2 babies in the house.

So far he is adjusting ok.  We have some issues we will have to overcome - but for the most part we could not ask for a better 16 month old.

Thank you to all for your thoughts and prayers during our journey.  As soon as I can, I will get some pictures on the site so you can see our little guy.

Love to all,

Rick, Amy and RYAN TOO!!

Good News Times 2 - August 12, 2008

Hi all. Some of you already know this. But for those who don't: Rick and I recently returned from Ohio with a sweet newborn baby boy. Meet Alex Richard Martin.

We were matched with a birth mother a few months back but were reluctant to say anything until things were official. Alex was born on July 21st at 5:32pm. He was 8 lbs 8 ounces and 20 inches long.

We are very blessed to have Alex join our family.

Now, onto Ryan news, we are in the process of getting the second DNA test done. We anticipate getting our Embassy date within the next three weeks. So...Ryan will have a little brother to come home to. As soon as we hear any news on traveling we will share it right here.

Love to all,

Amy and Rick

June 24th Update

Our birth mother had her interview with the Guatemalan Government. All went well. We are now about 3 weeks from being on the final desk for signing. Once we are signed, we will be out of PGN and will wait about 4 weeks for our Embassy date. We are hoping to pick our son up in August sometime. Of course this all depends on paperwork -which - is actually moving along faster than we thought it would at this point.

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. It won't be long now.

Love to all,

Amy and Rick

June Update

Finally we have some good news. The Guatemalan Government is starting to release cases. Which means, that we are starting to move through a little quicker. There are 3 review desks and 1 signing desk. We are on the 2nd reviewers desk. Once we get through that we should get a notice for our birthmother to go in for her 2nd interview - we are hoping that will happen this week sometime. So...we are moving...which is better than sitting still.

Please keep us all in your prayers. We just know it won't be long now before we can bring our little guy home.

We will keep you posted as we hear anything.

Love,

Amy and Rick

May Update

Well we are finally out of Family Court and are in PGN - which is the last step. But - and there is always a but - Guatemala has stopped all adoptions until they get some old issues settled. So - again we wait. The good news is that we are in line for processing and as soon as they get things figured out we will continue to move thorough the system. We are hopeful that when that happens, things will move quickly.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers. We can't wait to surround Ryan with all of you who have prayed so hard to help us get him home.

Love,

Amy and Rick

April Update

There have been alot of things going on in Guatemala. As things stand right now, there are some officials being kicked out of office and others taking their place. From what we hear, the new people are really going to try to get thing going so Rick and I and others like us will finally be able to bring our babies home. We still don't have an exact time, but we have a great agency and have total faith that we will be bringing Ryan home as soon as we can.

Sunday

Thanks to all who have visited while we are here in Guatemala. The love and support has been great. We have one more full day with Ryan and are starting to get a little sad that we have to come home without him. We have talked to several famlies while we have been here. Most were here to take their babies home. We know that day will be coming soon. Until then we will just have to look at the pictures and video and know that he will be home as soon as possible.

I will try to get some more pictures up when I get home.

Again, thanks to all of you for your words of encouragment and love.

Rick and Amy
